“L’indipendenza è un mezzo, non un fine”. Il consolidamento dell’indipendentismo catalano giovanile di sinistra: la JERC (1994-2015)
    in Nazioni e Regioni , n. 6 ,  2015 ,  27-48
Catalan nationalism largely put aside the path towards independence for the whole XX century, opting instead for the search for an autonomous political and administrative niche within Spain through the recognition of Catalonia’s cultural, linguistic and economic specificity. Recently, though, those same segments have deemed this “Spanish” project as failed and have opted for independence (2006- 2014). Such a change of perspective would have not been possible had it not been for the existence and activity (although for long time marginal and limited to the social sphere) of organizations such as JERC (Joventuts d’Esquerra Republicana de Catalunya), which for the last forty years have defended the feasibility of a leftist independence movement and gone beyond the simple creation of a new independent State. The article analyses the consolidation of JERC in the 1994-2015 period. Full text available online download
