    Quando il passato si tinge di rosso: la socializzazione della storia nazionale e la nazionalizzazione delle lotte sociali in Bretagna e Galizia negli anni ’70

    Representations of the past are part of the struggle for the hegemonic representation of regional and national territories. Taking as examples the cases of Brittany (France) and Galicia (Spain) this article shows that these representations depend on the definition a social group has of a territory or a nation, and can therefore change. In fact, when the nationalist movements in Brittany and Galicia shifted from an ethnic definition of their country to a Marxist one, they established a whole new repertoire of historical references to be usable in their political struggle. This new repertoire contributed to change the image of both regions. Full text available online download
