    Politica e cultura in Luigi Sturzo

    This study analyses the thought of Luigi Sturzo in order to highlight the cul-tural basis of his main political project, the Popularism, which was realized with the “Popular Party” in 1919. In the first part of the paper the thought of Luigi Sturzo has been analyzed as a synthesis (summa) of philosophical, theological and political implications: as a consequence, it has been argued the analogy with the idea of Weltanschauung pointed out by Romano Guar-dini. Moreover, in the second part, it has been considered the concern be-tween Sturzo‟s culture and catholic liberalism of the 19th Century. In the third part three ideas for a new liberalism have been considered, such as the “subsidiarity function”, the “common good” and the “political laicity”.
