    The paper analyses the deep and sometimes difficult relationship between Sturzo and De Gasperi, two personalities rich in human, political and reli-gious sensibility, which marked significantly the history of our country and conditioned the political culture of Italian Catholics in the 20th century. The comparison between the two figures also highlights the sometimes sharp po-lemics and clashes of opinions, – e.g. on the peace treaty ratification, on the agrarian reform and on the majority electoral law during the 1953 elections – that nonetheless never undermined the reciprocal esteem and friendship which linked them through the common adherence to the same values.
