    On the occasion of calling regional elections in Spain this year, this paper proposes the need to undertake the reform of article 42 of the Organic Law on General Elections because it is outdated after the incorporation of the right to early dissolution of Parliament by some Autonomous Communities that gained autonomy by way of article 143 of the Spanish Constitution, including Aragon. The unsuitability of that provision is causing, among other things, a confusion between the concepts of termination of the parliamentary mandate and exercise of the power of early dissolution.
