    The issue of the linguistic system of the European Union is crucial though almost looked over by the treaties, and has occupied the or-ganisation since it began operating. The choice made from the start, of a panarchic multilinguism, is still prevailing, for the same reasons than at the beginning, but requires, with the ever-increasing number of member countries, and therefore of official Union languages, delicate and renewed adjustments.
